it's okay to be an AE your entire sales career

Essay2024

It might just be your best career move.

Many of us chase higher titles, adding that "C" or "S" to our business cards as if it's the only path to success.

But here's a perspective worth considering: being an Account Executive for your entire career is not only acceptable…it can be preferable.

Let's be honest, none of us became AEs to struggle financially. High six figures is reasonable, and with exceptional performance, the coveted 7 figure income is achievable.

If you're smart with your investments, you can potentially double or quadruple that wealth.

Conservatively.

What often goes unmentioned is that each step up the ladder brings more responsibility, more stress, and more mental burden that can prevent you from enjoying the hard earned money you make as an AE.

As the saying goes: top sales people should earn more than their managers.

Personally, I would be content finishing my career closing significant deals and making a real impact for my customers.

There's profound value in mastering your craft rather than constantly reaching for the next title.

So let's normalize this: Being an AE for as long as you damn well please isn't just okay…it's strategic.
